Ruggers win big against Tennessee Rival

DSC03330The Crusader Rugby team has played White Station from Memphis every season since 2006, and it has turned into quite a rivalry. On Saturday Brother Martin took on White Station, this year at the Day Of Rugby at Pan Am Stadium. Brother Martin opened strong with tries by Captain Joe Caravella and junior wing Bruce Cuccia to take a 10 -0 lead. White Station answered with a try of its own to close the gap to 10-7. Joey Morris scored next for the Crusaders, but White Station kept the game close with a try of its own to narrow the score to 17-12. Brother Martin then added tries by Cuccia, Ben Gambino, Morris and Jeremy Vathy with three successful conversions by Quinn Condon (one) and by Sinesio Canseco (two) to finish the score line at 41-17 in favor of the Crusaders. With this win, the Crusaders’ record improved to 7-1.

Brother Martin also took the B game 24-0 led by senior Captain Hunter Moak. Tries were scored by Seamus O’Conner, Vathy, Lester Duhe, and Nick Williams. Quinn Condon hit two conversions.

Next up for the Crusader Rugby team is St Pius High School from Houston at City Park on Saturday at 1 p.m.
