Welcome from our Director of Advancement

I encourage you to visit campus and experience the special work being done by our students, faculty, and staff.
Gifts to the Brother Martin Fund through Alumni Giving, Parent Giving, and Grandparent Giving allow us to continue to educate young men for life in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Contribute to “building for the future” through our Capital Campaign or become a member of “The Society of 1869” through a planned gift. Gifts toward scholarships provide opportunities for young men to attend Brother Martin, while endowments advance our campus, our faculty and staff, and student activities.
Your time is valuable to us. We ask that you volunteer to ensure our success or simply attend one of our many events throughout the year.
If you would like to schedule a visit, please contact me at (504) 284-6700 or email kspellman@brothermartin.
Ametur Cor Jesu…Ametur Cor Mariae!
Sincerely,Kenny Spellman ’84

Ways to Give to Brother Martin
When considering a gift to the St. Aloysius Century Foundation to benefit Brother Martin High School there are many creative ways in which Brother Martin, you, and your loved ones all benefit at the same time. You can make a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime. You can give stock and realize larger tax savings. You can get a monthly check for life in return for your gift. Such giving techniques are called “planned gifts” because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and Brother Martin High School.
Society of 1869 (Planned Giving) ExpandMembership in the Society of 1869 is offered to all those who endorse Brother Martin High School’s mission, and who, like those Brothers in 1869 and those who followed, affirm that commitment by means of a planned gift.
To become eligible for Society membership, an individual simply informs the school in writing that Brother Martin High School has been included in his or her estate plans. Upon receipt of such documentation, participants are enrolled in the Society of 1869.
Benefits of Society Membership
- Satisfaction in knowing that your planned gift will benefit many generations of Brother Martin students
- Special invitation to Society events
- The Crimson & Gold Newsletter and Century II
- A special gift symbolizing your support of Brother Martin through your estate gift
The mission of the St. Aloysius Century Foundation is to provide financial support to help perpetuate the educational charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart at Brother Martin High School. This charism is expressed within the Brothers’ own Rule of Life and their Educational Mission and Ministry document.
Endowments are established in the St. Aloysius Century Foundation and named, by agreement of the St. Aloysius Century Foundation and the donor, in honor of someone suggested by the donor. This may be a Brother of the Sacred, a graduate of St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu or Brother Martin, a friend of Brother Martin or family member or friend of the donor.
Scholarships ExpandThe mission of the St. Aloysius Century Foundation is to provide financial support to help perpetuate the educational charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart at Brother Martin High School. This charism is expressed within the Brothers’ own Rule of Life and their Educational Mission and Ministry documents.
Scholarships established in the St. Aloysius Century Foundation may be named, by agreement of the St. Aloysius Century Foundation and the donor, in honor of someone suggested by the donor. This may be a Brother of the Sacred, a graduate of St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu or Brother Martin, a friend of Brother Martin or family member or friend of the donor.
The amount that is required to fully endow a scholarship is $75,000. This amount may be paid in one lump sum or in installments over a reasonable amount of time. Stock transfers may also be used to support or endow a scholarship.
An endowed scholarship annually provides direct financial assistance to needy Brother Martin High School students in the form of work-study grants and tuition reduction. The money dispersed is generally taken from interest earned and not from the principle.
Anyone interested in establishing a scholarship or wanting more information regarding a scholarship may contact Advancement and Alumni Director Kenny Spellman ’84 in the Advancement Office at (504) 284-6700.
Memorials ExpandMemorials are a great way to recognize a significant moment in a person’s life. When you give someone a memorial, you are giving the gift of prayer. Memorials are ideal for:
- Sharing the Joy of a Special Event
- Celebrating the Holidays
- Giving Comfort & Reassurance During Illness
- Providing Support During Times of Difficulty
- Expressing Sympathy for Those Grieving the Loss of a Loved One
For all memorials, an acknowledgment will be sent to whomever you wish. These memorials will state there has been a memorial in honor of someone and that they are in the thoughts and prayers of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and the entire Brother Martin community.
Contact the Advancement Office at 504-284-6700 for more information.
Capital Campaign Expand Fidelity through Change: The St. Aloysius Century Foundation Capital Campaign to Benefit Brother Martin High SchoolBrother Martin High School is currently engaged in a long-range plan for buildings and programs to support capital and endowment needs.
Phase I resulted in the Thomas F. & Elaine P. Ridgley Fine Arts and Athletic Center which was dedicated in 1999. The Ridgley Center includes an art room, the St. Aloysius Class of 1944 Gymnasium, athletic facilities, band and choral rooms, classrooms and the Brother Mark Thornton Terrace, a large multi-purpose room. Phase II included renovations to E.A. Farley Field and the completion of the Roland H. and Macy Paton Meyer Science and Mathematics Building and the James B. Branton Chapel. Phase III comprises a complete renovation of food services, the Tom and Gayle Benson Mall, relocation of the current library to the 2nd floor, formation center relocation on the 2nd floor, and renovation of the Conlin entrance and lobby.
We are now turning our attention to the Robert M. Conlin Gymnasium. By air conditioning the gym, Brother Martin can:
– Celebrate school-wide Liturgies comfortably.
– Expand the usage of the gym for Dances and Concerts.
– Increase enrollment for summer camps.
– Allow for other enhancements such as the Floor, Locker Room, Technology, and the Bleachers.
