NJROTC Changes Leadership at End of the Year Ceremony
The NJROTC Unit held its annual Change of Command and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 25th. At this event, cadets received awards for their accomplishments and performance throughout the year. Brother Martin also received the Distinguished Unit award with Academic Honors. The company staff for next year, led by David Trepagnier, the Commanding Officer, relieved this year’s staff, who were led by cadet Commander Todd Mathieu. During the ceremony, the flag pole in the backyard was dedicated to Chief Petty Officer Jacques J. Fontan, a Brother Martin Alumnus of 1986 and Navy SEAL tragically killed when his aircraft was shot down over Afghanistan. The following family members assisted with the unveiling: Chief Fontan’s Father Mr. Earl J. Fontan, Jr., Chief’s Daughter Miss Jourdan Fontan and his mother Mrs. Hazel O. Rue. The unit was also presented with a copy of the legislation that made June 28 Special Forces Day in Louisiana. Fair winds and following seas to both the outgoing seniors and the new staff.
