Crusader Bowling Rolls Past the Blue Jays to Complete Perfect District Record
The Brother Martin bowling team completed an undefeated season and won an outright district championship on Thursday with their 21-6 defeat of the Jesuit Blue Jays.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early 8-0 lead after a dominant first game in which the team rolled a 1340 and five team members bowled at least a 200.
Game two featured a lineup change from the Blue Jays. Consistent bowling from the Crusaders, however, kept Jesuit at bay. A 5-3 Br. Martin victory was the result. The top Crusader bowlers were Peyton Romano (236), Kyle Schneider (222), and Max Oertling (209).
Brother Martin took game three behind a near-perfect game from senior Peyton Romano that had Crusader supporters on the edges of their seats. The Crusaders won the match 5-3, and Romano finished with a 278.
Top bowlers for the match were Romano (740 series), Kyle Schneider (654 series), R.J. Beecher (650 series), and Max Oertling (633 series).
The Crusaders bowling team will see action again on Monday as they begin play in the regional tournament at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.
