Brother Martin Celebrates 2022 Fishing Rodeo
Brother Martin High School held the 22nd annual Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, June 2nd in the Backyard at school. It was a beautiful, warm day for alumni, families, and friends of Brother Martin as participants competed for various titles in 15 categories.
The Captain’s Party held at Causeway Bar & Grill in Metairie kicked off the event on Wednesday. Fishermen and guests were able to register while they enjoyed complimentary food, beverages, and fishing tips.
On Saturday, Rob Hymel entertained the crowd with music as Eddie Gonzales ’77 served as the emcee. Younger fishermen competed in a fish toss directed by Billy Thiele ’78. The Schmidt Family Cooking Team provided delicious fried fish, burgers, fries, and other delights along with pizzas donated by Cici’s Pizza.
“Finatic” took home 1st place in the coveted 5-Trout Stringer category. Ryan Linn ’24 caught the largest fish by a current Brother Martin student. “Finatic“, “Speed“, and “Scales & Ales” each won two categories. BSpell Paint and Faux Pas Prints provided the awards.
The Brother Martin Cheerleaders sold “Big Board Raffle” spots and a Parade of Prizes consisting of gift cards, Brother Martin items, fishing gear, and more.
