Bump, Set, Slam
On Saturday morning, hundreds of high school students gathered to play in the 16th annual Slam-N-Jam volleyball tournament at Coconut Beach in Kenner. Slam-N-Jam is a charity volleyball tournament that puts teams of high school students against each other. School pride and bragging rights are on the line, as the event has become a staple in the high school community over the years.
The Crusader students entered six teams in the contest who all played extremely well. One of the Crusader teams, who was the defending Slam-N-Jam champions, had reached the semi-finals. Things looked promising for a repeat championship, but due to the weather, the tournament had to be cancelled.
All proceeds raised from the event are going to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and two main charities, Camp Sunshine and Camp Friendship.
