Crusader Band Marches Endymion
Our award-winning Brother Martin Band did a spectacular job representing our school as they marched in the Krewe of Endymion parade on Saturday, February 26th, 2022. Accompanied by the St. Mary’s Dominican High School Debs, our Crusader band played “music you can dance to” as they paraded through the streets of New Orleans. For the denizens of New Orleans, the Brother Martin Band’s music was the perfect catalyst for us to “laissez les bons temps rouler!” Now, the Brother Martin Band is off to Disney World to perform in the Magic Kingdom! Great work, Crusader band!
Mrs. Choina’s Class Learns About Carnaval de Ponce
Before going on Mardi Gras break, Mrs. Choina’s Spanish II classes learned about carnival relative to their course of study. Ponce, Puerto Rico has been celebrating Carnaval Ponceño for over 250 years, and the Puerto Ricans there wear special masks known as Vejigante masks, which are worn during their parades and are brightly colored. Mrs. Choina’s Spanish II students made their own Vejigante masks in class before the break as they studied Puerto Rican culture in conjunction with our city’s celebration of Mardi Gras.
