Crusader Harriers Find Success in Allstate Sugar Bowl Cross Country Classic
On Saturday, October 19th, the Crusader Harriers competed in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Cross Country Classic in City Park. The freshmen, the sub-varsity, and the varsity teams all had successful races on Saturday. In the Freshmen Division, top performances came from Brady Meisner ’23, Mark Armbruster ‘23, Grant Richardson ‘23, Trent Girod ‘23, and Cameron Baudry ‘23 who all finished in the top 20 leading the team to a third-place finish.
The sub-varsity (JV) team won the meet with an impressive 11-second spread between runners 1 and 5. Pacing the way to that win were Gabe Costa ‘20, Sam Shields ‘20, Josh Mendoza ‘20, Ian Gourgues ‘20, and Bailey Heidingsfelder ‘22. The varsity finished in second place and continues to show that its strength is the pack as the team’s first through fifth runners continue to swap places on a weekly basis. This week, Abe Bernstein ‘20 led the harriers with a seventh-place finish. Gary Sandrock ‘21, Landon Sequeira ‘22, Ethan Dupas ‘20, and Laden Batson ‘21 completed the scoring for the team. This weekend, the Crusaders will host the Brother Martin Jack Schommer Invitational in City Park.
Come out and support the Crusader Harriers on Saturday. Races start at 8:00 a.m., and boys start racing at 8:30 a.m.
