Crusader Offense Too Much for Buccaneers
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday afternoon in route to a 15-0 victory over the Buccaneers at West Jefferson.
A bases loaded walk by Gregory Deichmann, a fielder’s choice, a walk by Peyton Senner, and a sacrifice fly by Brice Johnston during the first inning, and an RBI double by Cody Ducote, an RBI single by Owen Magee, a bases loaded walk, and a sacrifice fly by Johnston in the second inning fueled the Crusaders’ offense early.
Brother Martin built upon its lead adding four runs in the fourth. A single by Jacob Seward ignited the offense, plating Johnston and was followed by a double off the bat of Cody Ducote, scoring William Douglass.
The Crusaders tacked on another three runs in the fifth when Seward kicked things off with a single scoring Daniel Randolph and Corey Gaconi.
The Crusader offense was sparked by Jacob Seward and Cody Ducote, who teamed up for eight hits and eight RBIs.
Steven Farris had a strong outing on the mound for Brother Martin. West Jefferson managed just one hit off of Farris, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.
With this win, Brother Martin (26-5, 9-0) clinches the district title and will play its final district game Thursday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium against West Jefferson. The game is set to start at 7:00 pm. The game will also be broadcast on WGSO 990 am.
