Incoming Crusaders Enrich the Lives of Others Through Service

By Jeffrey Lupo II
“Recently, our newest Crusaders enrolled in our 3-week Enrichment Program and participated in their Day of Service. The day was filled with various projects and presentations led by our Crusader counselors and our partners from Ozanam Inn. For two weeks, incoming Crusaders donated toiletries and self-care items for those housed at Ozanam Inn. As part of their day of service, our new students made multiple toiletry bags along with a handwritten note meant for the individuals who received our donations. In addition to making over 200 care bags, our Crusaders also made ham and turkey sandwiches to help feed the people staying at Ozanam. To finish their service activity, our Crusaders viewed a presentation given by some of the Ozanam Inn staff, which allowed them to see how much they were able to help the community. For their active participation in serving the homeless and less fortunate in our area, all those who helped during the Enrichment Day of Service were awarded 2 service hours. This day showcased Brother Martin High School’s commitment to the community and our Christian Service Program. As part of this, all eighth-graders will be required to complete 10 hours of meaningful service. We are so proud of our newest Crusaders for their want to serve the less fortunate in our community.“
