Steven Shields Named Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Steven Shields ’17 who was named The New Orleans Advocate Athlete of the Week. In November, Steve wrestled in a competitive 126-pound weight class of the 2016 Cinco Ranch Big 12 Tournament in Katy, Texas and had  four pins in five matches which helped the Crusaders win the tournament with 231 points. A member of the National Honor Society,  Steve also has acquired 145 career wins and hopes to join fellow Crusader Alumnus Paul Klein ’15 to become second four time state champion in Louisiana Division I wrestling.

Last year, Steven wrestled in his third straight Division I title in the 120-pound weight class. He was also named to The New Orleans Advocate’s All-Metro wrestling team and received the title of “Most Valuable Wrestler” at the 2016 Brother Martin Wrestling Convocation.

The Crusaders will next travel to Germantown, TN on Friday, December 2 for the Blackhorse Invitational.
