The Brother Martin Dionysians Present: The Little Mermaid

The following recap was provided by Brother Martin Senior Dionysian members Aden Airhart and Liam Turner: “In The Little Mermaid, Ariel (Regan Nugent, Scarlett Duhe), a curious and headstrong mermaid, discovers her fascination with the world above with her best friend, Flounder (Roman Alvendia ’28). She becomes fascinated with the human world and uses her beautiful voice to call out to Eric (Liam Turner ’24, Aden Airhart ’24), a charming and adventurous prince who longs to be a simple sailor. Ariel dreams of being up in the human world rather than under the sea and sings “Part of Your World” to showcase her desire. However, Sebastian (Joshua Dinh ’26), a punctilious and uptight crab, and her father, King Triton (Ty Alfonso ’24), urge her to stay “under the sea” and out of danger, causing Ariel’s teenage angst. In a turn of events, Ursula (Abby Nastasi, Cecelia McLellan), a manipulative and villainous sea witch, lures Ariel into her lair with an offer to trade her voice to become human. Ariel accepts the deal but only has three days to receive a kiss from Prince Eric, or else she will permanently belong to Ursula. This is a story where Ariel pursues her opportunity to live happily in the world above with Prince Eric while remaining true to her father, mersisters, and gilled friends from under the sea.“
