The Sum of Our Crusader Mathletes’ Efforts Equals a Win!

This past Saturday, our Crusader Mathletes competed at Catholic High in Baton Rouge, earning several awards and trophies for Brother Martin.

For the Mu Alpha Theta team tests, the Crusader math bowl team (Bryce Patterson, Landin Sanborn, Jared Smith, and Addison Wilburg) placed second. For the potpourri competition, Team A (Andy Biehl, Bryan MacDowell, Anthony Wei, and Jake Williams) came in second place, with Team B (Tommy Jackson, Kyle Borde, and Will Buras) coming in first. Additionally, participants in the calculus team test (Giancarlo Lara, Matthew Lindner, Brian Dufrene, and Trent Jenning) scored high enough to win first place.

On a school-wide level, the Crusader Mu Alpha Theta teams charged into the number one spot in the Lower Interschool, Upper Interschool, and Sweepstakes Competitions. Participating in the lower interschool test were lowerclassmen Jacob Chauffe, Jay Childs, Evan Liang, Vincent Molina, Martin Nuila, Dylan Rhoton, and Andrew Wei, and participating in the upper interschool were upperclassman Andy Biehl, Kyle Borde, Will Buras, Brian Dufrene, Landon Groetsch, Daniel Hartmann, Thomas Jackson, Trent Jenning, Giancarlo Lara, Matthew Lindner, Bryan MacDowell, Bryce Patterson, Landin Sanborn, Jared Smith, Anthony Wei, Addison Wilburg, and Jake Williams.

Last but not least, the Crusaders dominated the individual tests in multiple subjects. Sophomore Dylan Rhoton secured a second place spot for the individual Algebra II test, and junior Daniel Hartmann was named an Honorable Mention for the Advanced Math test. On the Calculus A individual, seniors Addison Wilburg and Kyle Borde earned honorable mentions, with fellow senior Brian Dufrene coming in 5th, Jake Williams coming in 4th, Matthew Lindner coming in 3rd, and president Landin Sanborn stealing the number one spot.
